SUGAR BEET CLUB STUDY TOUR TO ITALY

The recent sugar beet study tour was a resounding success and from the feedback we have received was enjoyed by all participants.

 Just a short thank you to those fortunate enough to join Elaine, Neville & myself on the recent Sugar Beet study tour of the commercial and the seed growing area of the Italian Emilia Romangna region. You will see a few photos of the trip and there will be more to follow. I make NO apologies for the quality as these were taken by yours truly. 

We acknowledge that our invited guests were extremely good company over the 3 days and were very conscious of our shepherdess who, very quickly learnt to count 31, or was it 32, moving targets. Your contribution and appreciation of the time helped the tour be such an overwhelming success and we thank you for all. 

Whilst the arrangements were under the office control of Claire, we were also treated very well by the staff of "Betaseed" and the Italian sugar factory staff and grower to which we also send our gratitude.

It is apparent that the Italian yields are lower than the UK and there will follow up articles in the up coming issue of the Sugar Beet Club newsletter.

You will see more details of our variety Galileo in future publications but the seed will be limited, so if you are interested in growing an area of Galileo do not forget to note this on your orders.
