Odyssey is a very high yielding spring malting barley with very good resistance to disease.
Odyssey has good physical grain characteristics with a high specific weight and very low levels of screenings. Odyssey has a high hot water extract and is a non-GN (Glycosidic Nitrile) producer making it highly suitable for both brewing and distilling.
Odyssey is under test by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) for brewing and distilling.

Odyssey has shown a very high potential in treated trials, 3% above Propino and 13% above Optic. Odyssey also has an excellent untreated yield, 2% above Propino. Odyssey is the highest yielding spring barley (malting or feed) on the 2012 HGCA Recommended List.

Odyssey has a similar straw length to Optic combined with good lodging resistance. It has very good brackling resistance and is slightly later than Optic to ripen.

Odyssey has a good disease resistance package with very high ratings for resistance to mildew and Rhynchosporium, the main spring barley diseases.
