Chronicle is a spring malting variety with a very high yield potential, very good straw characteristics and resistance to disease.

Chronicle has shown a very high potential in treated trials, 1% above Propino and 11% above Optic. Chronicle also has an excellent untreated yield.

Chronicle has stiff straw of a similar straw length to Optic combined with very good lodging and brackling resistance 

Chronicle has good physical grain quality with a high specific weight and very low levels of screenings.

Chronicle has a very high hot water extract (HWE), low grain nitrogen and is a non glycosidic nitrile (GN) producer making it very attractive to the malting industry.  It is under test by the Institue of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) for both brewing and distilling. 

Chronicle has a good disease resistance package with very high ratings for resistance to mildew and Rhynchosporium, the main spring barley diseases.
