Cassata is a 2-row winter barley with a high yield potential and good malting quality

It has moderately short straw, very good resistance to Rhynchosporium and brown rust as well as the commonly occurring strains of Barley Mosaic Virus.

Cassata has full approval from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) for brewing use.

Cassata has produced high yields in HGCA treated trials, similar to Flagon and superior to Pearl. Its untreated yield is 1% above Pearl.

Cassata has very good resistance to Rhynchosporium and brown rust but is susceptible to yellow rust. Resistance to net blotch is comparable with Flagon. Cassata is also resistant to the commonly occurring strains of Barley Mosaic Virus (BaYMV 1 and BaMMV) unlike Flagon and Pearl which are susceptible.
