Concerto is a very high yielding spring malting barley with a good all-round agronomic package and no significant weaknesses. Concerto has a high specific weight and produces a very low level of screenings.
Commercial experience suggests Concerto accumulates grain nitrogen at a low level - like Optic - and has particular malting characteristics which make it highly suitable for both brewing and distilling. Concerto is fully approved by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) for brewing and distilling.
Status: HGCA (UK) Recommended List; SAC Recommended List; DARD Recommended List

Concerto has a similar straw length to Optic combined with good lodging and brackling resistance.

Concerto has a very high Hot water extract (HWE), low grain nitrogen and is a non Glycosidic Nitrile (GN) producer, making it very attractive to the distilling and brewing industries. Concerto has full approval from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) for brewing and malt distilling.
Concerto has excellent resistance to mildew and similar Rhynchosporium and brown rust resistance to Optic.
